Evidence-Based Programming :

Research

Research was a key cornerstone of Fistula Care.

When the project was awarded in 2007, a gap existed in the published evidence about factors and operative techniques that influence the outcomes of fistula surgery. In collaboration with international and national partners, Fistula Care conducted two multicenter clinical studies to answer some of the most pressing research questions about fistula treatment and care. Fistula Care also conducted research and evaluation studies to learn about cesarean delivery services, community engagement, integration of family planning with fistula services, costs of fistula surgery, and new approaches for fistula screening.

This section contains an overview of Fistula Care’s research and evaluation and links to study protocols, final reports and peer review journal articles.
